Fort Lauderdale to Anguilla

Anguilla, Anguilla
Friday, October 29, 2010

We made it home to Anguilla.  Took a hired car to the Miami airport, American Airlines to Sint Maarten, GB Express ferry to Blowing Point, and a taxi home.  As usual, we were hot and tired when we arrived.  The yard was a mess, with damage from Hurricane Earl and lack of care by the guy we hired to take care of the yard for the summer.    Of course no phone, no TV, no network.  Mark got the water turned on and enough hurricane shutters opened so we could manage for the first night.  The suitcases went in a heap to be opened and dealt with later.  We dragged out our chaise longues and sat on the veranda in the evening.  A few days later and we were back in the swing of things, working at the shelter and with other AARF activities and helping Wanda.

St, Martin is in the forefront to the right, St. Barths behind. We can almost always see St. Barths but on a clear day like today, it really stands out.

She's a red-footed tortoise. She lives in our yard with her friend Denny. They eat lots of natural plants and grasses and love treats of fruit (especially red grapes) and tortoise pellets.
